April 23 (SeeNews) - Albania's consolidated budget was in surplus of 33.4 billion leks ($353 million/331 million euro) in the first quarter of 2024, up 8% compared with the same period in 2023, finance ministry data showed on Tuesday.
Consolidated budget revenue rose 5% year-on-year to 163.8 billion leks in the January-March period, whereas expenditures increased by 4.1% to 130.4 billion leks, the finance ministry said in a statement, quoting preliminary figures.
Tax revenue increased by 11.7% to 99.4 billion leks, with value-added tax proceeds up 35.3% to 17.5 billion leks.
Albania's consolidated budget was in deficit of 31.3 billion leks at the end of 2023, finance ministry data showed last month.
